WHO ARE WE ?
Founded in 1991, Sun Po Trading Co. is a Hong Kong based eyewear sole distributor and wholesaler for Southeast Asia.
We started with our first OEM brand, “EXTREME”. For more than 30 years, EXTREME has built up a strong positive reputation among the eyewear industry.
Expanding to eyewear trading and distribution
We started visiting the International Optical Fair Tokyo (IOFT), the Asia's leading optical trade fair in Japan, to gather the latest eyewear products from all over the world. At the same time, we started our first Japanese eyewear distribution, “Ti-feel”.
Exporting to Southeast Asia market
which includes Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Over 15 years, the number of businesses working with us in these regions has increased significantly.
One step further to Europe
We began visiting the “Mido Optical Fair”, the current largest international show dedicated to the global eyewear sector in Milan, Italy with more than 1,200 worldwide exhibitors and 52,000 qualified visitors from all over the world.
Our first exhibition
We believed that Sun Po Trading Co. is ready to hold an eyewear exhibition itself. Therefore, by the end of that year, we held our first exhibition in Hong Kong. We are glad that most businesses have continued visiting our annual exhibition ever since.
“THE FUTURE EYEWEAR”
It is our fourth time visiting the International Optical Fair Tokyo (IOFT). We signed our first eyewear distribution contract with one of the most high-end eyewear brands in Japan, the “Factory 900”, led by designer Mr. Yoshinori Aoyama, advocating a concept called “THE FUTURE EYEWEAR”.
Aiming at the Asian eyewear utopia
Since then, Sun Po Trading Co. proceeds to aim high, setting a target to lead its own industry by finding innovative and beautiful eyewear from all over the world. In 2006, it’s our first time visiting the Asian eyewear utopia – Fukui, Japan. We signed another high-end eyewear distribution contract with “NOVA Classic Collection – Hand Made Item”.
Trip to Paris
We started visiting Silmo International Optics and Eyewear Trade Fair, which is the essential trade show for optics and eyewear professionals in Paris, France since 1967.
The global financial crisis of 2008
Most businesses went bankrupt or maintained conservative. However, we came out in an innovative and creative way to overcome such obstacles, which is to introduce a premium underground eyewear to Hong Kong’s market, the “Parasite Eyewear”. It is the first brand that revolutionized eyewear with its active “STEREO” holding system. We believed that Parasite Eyewear will bring us some new insights in the upcoming 10 years.
Gaining more partnerships
Few months after we signed a distribution contract with Parasite Eyewear, we started gaining more partnerships with European brands and Korean brands. The most astonishing European brand that we have partnered in 2009 is Blackfin Eyewear, one of the best quality titanium eyewear entirely hand made in Italy with excellent materials.
The Beginning of K-POP Culture
Korean pop culture has started to influence many other Asian cultures. K-POP then turns itself into the Asian modern trend. We recognized such “Korean Wave” and started preparing ourselves for Korean eyewear brands. We first signed a distribution contract with HIARI Kids - OEM Eyewear.
Our first visit to Daegu International Optical Show (DIOPS) in South Korea
We learned more about Korean eyewear design after such visit. A Korean eyewear brand, “MoNo Design”, came into play after a few months. With its three-dimensional concept of “Basic, Trust, and Change”, MoNo Design offers a superior and comfortable eyewear to the market.
Our first luxury horn frame eyewear distribution
We made our first luxury horn frame eyewear distribution from Germany, “Freddie Wood”, bringing Sun Po Trading Co. to a whole new level. It opened up our luxury line providing an eyewear that has classic craftsmanship with modern methods. It uses high quality selections of wood, silk, genuine stones, titanium and gold for its production.
Our First Famous Cartoons Eyewear
We made our first Hello Kitty’s Kids eyewear distribution. We have faith in using famous cartoons as to expand our “eyewear for kids” market. That is the reason why we chose to work with OPAL to distribute Hello Kitty Eyewear to the Southeast Asia region.
Working with Google to create our first digital marketing strategy
We gave our business a facelift, including our branding, our official website, our social media pages, etc. We developed our first 5A CDN-ready mobile-friendly website aiming to deliver the best products to our best customers. Our goal is to provide the best service quality among the eyewear industry.
